Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you visit studionoir.agency or get in touch, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We collect very little, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

Who we are

Studio Noir is a software and automation studio based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@studionoir.agency.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us through the forms on this site:

• Contact form: your name, company, email address, phone number if you provide it, and your message.
• Field notes sign-up: your email address.
• Article replies: your name, email address, message and the article you replied to.

The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no tracking scripts. If you switch between light and dark mode, that preference is saved in your own browser's local storage and never sent to us.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and, if you ask us to, prepare a scope and quote. The basis is your request and the steps needed before any contract.
• To send occasional field notes you signed up for. The basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To read article replies. We do not publish replies without asking the person who wrote them.

We do not use your details for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not add enquiry contacts to marketing lists unless they ask.

Who else is involved

Form submissions are delivered to our business email inbox through our web host. A small number of third parties are involved in running the site:

• Web hosting and email providers, which store and deliver the messages you send us.
• Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces on this site. Loading a page sends your IP address to Google so the fonts can be delivered.
• Google Maps and LinkedIn, only if you click a link to them. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

International transfers

We are based in India and our providers may process data in other countries. Where the law of your country requires safeguards for transfers, such as the GDPR in the European Union or the UK GDPR, we rely on appropriate contractual protections with those providers.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within 24 months.
• If you become a client, correspondence is kept for as long as the engagement lasts and for the period required for tax and legal records afterwards.
• Field notes sign-ups are kept until you ask to be removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the GDPR, you can ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, stop using it for a purpose you consented to, or send you a copy. Email hello@studionoir.agency and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Security

Our forms validate what they receive, accept submissions only in the expected format, and deliver to a single fixed address that cannot be changed from outside. No method of sending data over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send passwords, payment card details or health records through the forms.
